Abstract
James Blake, a 57-year-old engineer and Chief Executive Office for Crow Maunsell Management Consultants Ltd, took up the post of President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) on 21 June, following three years as senior vice-president. He was appointed Secretary of Works on 27 July. A Londoner by birth, Mr Blake has lived in Hong Kong for 25 years, working on such projects as the Kai Tak Airport runway extension, Cross Harbour Tunnel and Eastern Harbour Crossing projects, Hong Kong Club building redevelopment and construction of Alexandra House and numerous road infrastructure projects. He expounds on the work of the HKIE and on matters related to the Chek Lap Kok airport project, Hong Kong's need to improve efficiency in structures and engineering practices and the need to improve local construction methods and techniques. 高茂管理顧問有限公司副總裁詹伯樂,在香港工程師學會擔任了三年副會長後,今年六月二十一日正式成為新一任會長。 詹伯槳現年五十七歲,倫敦出生,一九五八年首次來港,逗留了一年。到一九六五年重臨香江,自此一直留在本港工作,曾參與興建海底隧道、東區海底隧道、歷山大廈、香港會所大廈重建、啓德機場擴建及多項道路基建工程。 在接受建築承造雜誌訪問中,詹伯樂談到赤鱲角新機場工程為本地工程師帶來的挑戰和機會、本港建築業需改進的地方以及工程師學會在這方面擔當的角色。 (註:港府已於七月二十七日宣布委任詹伯樂為工務司)
