Abstract
Construction contracts generally contain provisions which render the contractor liable to pay damages (either liquidated or general) if the contractor fails to complete by the specified time for completion. Consistent with this, contracts contain clauses which allow the contract administrator to extend the time for completion where delays have been caused by matters the responsibility for which has been assumed by the Employer, such as late posession of site, late information or instructions, or variations to the works.
