Abstract
Modern hotels have not been notable for their architectural design. Typically the finest modern hotels have been anonymous-looking funtional shells, with interiors that are decorated to whatever is the current style. There have been a few exceptions in the past ten years, where both the building and the interiors are of sympathetic High Modern Sytles. Now the Ramada Renaissance brings together a highly stylized architectural enclosure of Late-Modern details and hotel interiors, that, while contemporary in colour and scale, are meant to evoke traditional, Renaissance images. It is a story of some interest of how the combination developed and how well it works.
