Abstract
Remembrance of and respect for one's forebeas is inherent in the Chinese culture and is inherent in the Chinese culture and is widely practised. While cemeteries have traditionally been the place for burial and for the "worship" ceremonies, Hong Kong's crowded conditions today often require a communal arrangement, which bears the designation "columbarium" or "worship hall."
The Po Fook (treasured blessings) Ancestral Worship Hall in north Shatin is such a place of shared reverence and, as perhaps Hong Kong's leading proponent of a continuance of traditional Chinese architecture, albeit using modern materials, Chung Wah-nan of Chung Wah Nan & Partners took special pleasure in designing it.
