Abstract
Sitting on the northern periphery of Basel, a suburb of Riehen, the Fondation Beyeler museum is a mecca for paintings and sculptures by the great artists of the past century, collected by Ernst Beyeler over the last 50 years. When it came to the architecture, he went straight to Renzo Piano, whose work with the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the de Menil Museum in Houston made a permanent impression.
