Abstract
Electricity supply is one of the keys for further economic development in mainland China and much effort has been made in this are by the Chinese governement. Despite the fact that a number of power plants, including the Daya Bay Nuclear Plant nad the Shajiao A & B Power Plants, have been built and commissioned recently, power shortage is still a daily headache for factory owners in Guangdong Province, particularly in the highly industrialised Pearl River Delta.
The completion of Shajiao C Power Plant at the end of 1994 and early 1995 may solve part of the problem since it will be the largest coal-fired power station in China.
