Abstract
A joint venture between Po Leung Kuk and HKU SPACE, the community college is a new building on a site that previously housed domitories. The long and narrow lot faces a leafy garden at the northwest end of the Kuk's Leighton Road property. Ronald Lu & Partners went on to develop a 19-storey building to make Po Leung Kuk and HKU SPACE more transparent and engaging to the surrounding Causeway Bay district, both literally and symbolically. The college is designed to act as a link between the public and the charitable organisation. The transparent envelop reinforces a strong visual connection with the outside neighbourhood and a willingness to reveal campus life to the community.
