Abstract
The mountainous topography that works against the easy surface transmission of high-energy electricity generated on Lamma Ialnad north to users on urban Hong Kong Island lends itself, albeit expensively, to the tunnel as the route of convenience and for protection against the extermem natural elements. Hongkong Electric will shortly open its second trans-Hong Kong Island tunnel, a single tude which runs from the company's Nam Fung Road substation opposite Lamma Island in the south-west to the Parker switching station near Chaiwan in morteastern Hong Kong Island. It will carry six-275-KV electric cables and other facilities and have provision for future cable installations. 為了保護自然環境及把電力更直接地輸送絡用戶,香港電燈有限公司近年已放棄在港島崎嶇的山脊上架設巨型電纜塔,改而興建成本較高的輸電隧道。 (1) Programme 工程進度 (2) Tunnel formation 建造過程 (3) Tunnel lining 隧道襯砌 (4) People and progress 隧道挖鑿機
