Abstract
In Italy, a government appointed commission is investigating ways to stop the Leaning Tower of Pisa falling over. One of the commission members, Professor John Burland, was recently in Hong Kong. He told Robert Cairns some of the challenges involved in this most difficult of civil engineering jobs.
