Abstract
In our complex world of construction projects, the many inter-related parties - developer, design team, contractors - often have conflicting aspirations, and their attitudes toward administration of the project contract can impact upon the smooth running of the entire development programme. So says High-Point Schaer director and general manager Kelvin Hingley, who goes on to state, "Project participants are often under the impression that contract administration should be dealt with by everyone else, as long as they themselves are under no obligations." This misapprehension contributes to the underlying causes of increased criticism of one participant's administration, while hiding another's own poor performance and the effect these could have upon an established reputation. Contract administration is the responsibility of all the major parties in a project. (1) Why claims? (2) Why disagreement? (3) Why administer? (4) Coming to a boil (5) There is hope
