Abstract
For the first time ever, the World Congress of the International Union of Architects (UIA) will be held in Asia. Beijing has been selected as the site for this historic congress. At a press conference held on 3rd February, Ye Rutang gave a speech outlining the June events in the capital. Building Journal is proud to present an edited version of this speech, which touches on the accomplishments of Chinese architecture as well as the forthcoming Congress. Ye Rutang is the Executive Chariman of the Congress Organising Committee, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Construction and President of the Architectural Society of China.
