Abstract
When Spence Robinson Ltd was commissioned to design a church extension for the Holy Carpenter Church and Community Centre on Dyer Avenue in Hunghom, they were confronted by several problems that look in site, existing structures and community needs.
Incidentally, Spence Robinson executive director Kit Haffner points out, the reference in the name to the Biblical "carpenter" (the occupation of Joseph, the father of Jesus, and Jesus in his earthly life) is justified in the context of Hunghom, historically but not today the centre of shipbuilding in Hong Kong.
