Abstract
San Francisco based architects Jeff Simmerman and Paul Welscheyer both graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Louis Obispo. They pride their partnership - Zimmerman/Welschmeyer Architects (ZWA) - as being at the forefront of innovations since the company's inception 13 years ago. Focusing on the principle of delivering quality and tailoring the design to the client's need has brought the firm vast opportunities throughout the many Bay Area business communities. Their portfolio covers a wide range of projects from offices to multiple housing units and community planning, however the firm has purposefully held its employee base to just nine project architects and assistants. By keeping every project within the close purview of the company principals, quality control has been kept well in check. Each company member is skilled at all levels whilst departmental and hierarchical distinctions are virtually non-existent. This philosophy is best reflected in ZWA's office, a straightforward open studio plan enhancing free exchange of ideas between every employee.
