Abstract
Anathema to Hong Kong's ultra-modern, high-rise ethos, conservation is now an issue that finds resonance especially among the younger generation. In Kowloon they are pulling down the '50s tenements not to replace them with the latest, but to restore the traditional buildings that made up the Walled City. Jane Ram reports.
