Abstract
Chep Lap Kok was chosen as the new airport site because its offshore location offered clear safe airspace and also for its convenience. It will take less than half an hour for road and rail passengers to travel to and from the centre of Hong Kong.
The reclamation contract made Hong Kong home to the largest commercial dredger fleet ever assembled. At the peak, operators moved the equivalent volume of an Empire State Building every five days.
