Abstract
Situated on a commanding ridge 15 km north of Doha, the University of Qatar, constructed of white concrete precast units, is distinguished by an array of towers derived from traditional wind towers used in the region for hundreds of years. The building orientation is essentially inward looking following Islamic tradition and responds to the strong heat and winds common to the area. The powerful architectural forms created can be clearly seen from many miles away. (1) Architectural planning and architectural philosophy (2) The main features of the building
