Abstract
In Hong Kong, the term "Five-Star Hotel" is practically synonymous with sweeping grand staircases, colossal columns, exquisite marble and majestic chandeliers. But wouldn't these trappings crowd a resort hotel, one of the same rank notwithstanding? Angela Tam took a look at Hong Kong's first five-star resort, and how the architects overcame the difficulties involved.
