Abstract
"Fee contracting" became an outgrowth of "general contracting" in New York City, USA, in the middle to late fifties as a result of developers realising that they were taking the bulk of the risk in terms of financing and rental or sale of their product, and saw that the general contracting process was not affording them any control over their project in its early development stages. They opted to take a major portion of the construction risk as well to obtain absolute control over their building projects. (1) The process works
