Abstract
The Yangpu Development Zone project in China's Hainan province is significanat even in the face of the massive physical incarnations elsewhere of China's economics-led revolution. There, a Kumagai Gumi (HK) Ltd-led joint venture will change a 30-sq km area into an industrial zone in which 400,000 works will find employment.
海南島洋浦自由港計劃，今年三月獲中國國務院批准。熊谷組 (香港) 有限公司八月與海南省政府簽訂土地轉讓合同，將海南島西北端洋浦港三十平方公哩用地，轉 讓與熊谷組，為期七十年。雙方同意由熊谷組組織土地發展公司，把洋浦發展為一個輕重工業，第三產業以及生活區的新經濟特區，為二十五萬人提供居所，並為另外十五萬暫住人口提供就 業。
