Abstract
During recent years the words management contractor, management fee contract or something similar have appeared with increasing frequency under the names of the contractors on building site name boards. In which way is the role of the management contractor or fee contractor different from that of the traditional contractor?
Management contracting and management fee mean different things to different people. Furthermore there are various approaches to both contracting and fee so that the discussion below should be regarded as indicative of systems generalty rather than an account of a particular system
(1) Contractor's fee can be renegotiated
(2) Characteristics of the system
(3) 'Them and us' attitudes are avoided
(4) A return on the investment more quickly
