Abstract
In many countries, building control may include comprehensive restraints on the environment, urban planning, land use and design and construction of buildings. These control functions are normally carried out by a number of government authorities and statutory bodies. In Hong Kong and China the approach to construction control makes for some interesting comparsions, particularly in light of the large amount of involvement Hong Kong companies have in construction projects on the mainland.
