Abstract
The church complex in Hong Kong is a vertical pile up of functions. You will see a volum of church space seating a few hundred persons, a small chapel, an assembly hall of similar capacity, several functions or activities rooms and priests' quarters. An elderly centre, youth centre or kindergarten can also be incorporated as a sort of social welfare facilities. All these funcions stack up on each other. Here is little room for architects to play with exiting roof forms. Instead, we are dealing with compact arrangement of space. This is in line with the general trend of architectural design in Hong Kong - functional variety. And this is what makes modern church complex in Hong Kong unique.
