Abstract
Opened in December 2003, the 30.5 km Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) West Rail line now connects the Northwestern New Territories with Kowloon. The project was built at a cost of $46 billion and involved the design and constructiion of nine stations along the alignment, as well as a depot at Pat Heung, an administration building, elevated railway viaducts and two major tunnels.
