Abstract
The research study applies some traditional theories in capitalist economics and management to an inquiry on achieving quality in the project management for architectural design and construction practice in Hong Kong. Quality is seen from the original viewpoint as being an incrementally achievable economic commodity, which architects may achieve in increasing scales above the mandated governmental requirements for a building. Participation by architects as project managers may be an effective market mechanism for enhancing the quality of the real estate produced in terms of design while ensuring professional profitability.
