Abstract
Despite continuous advances in the fields of construction, technology and engineering, fire is as real a danger today as it has always been. Advances in fire technology continue to be made, but as buildings become larger, more elaborate and more sophisticated, they also become increasingly hazardous, presenting new challenges for architects and engineers. How do you stop the fire spreading through the entire building in an emergency? How will firefighters obtain access?
