Abstract
Risks in construction are plentiful. Time, quality, availability of resources, weather and financial risks (funding, exchange rates, etc) are but a few. However, if you ask any contractor the risk which concerns him most in construction projects, and particularly civil engineering projects, the answer will invariably be that which arises once ground is broken - unforseseen ground conditions and obstructions.
