Abstract
In 1972 the Government commissioned Maunsell Consultants Asia to investigate alternative alignments for a new Eastern District highway to serve the ever-expanding needs of the community well into the 1990's.
Ron Taylor, Chief Engineer at Maunsell gives an insight into the overall project, one of the largest of its type being undertaken anywhere in the world. (Unless otherwise stated, pictures are courtesy of Maunsells.)
