Abstract
(1) The new lighting installation above the entrance of the Musee du Louvre in Paris has been in operation since the end of 2004, bathing the unique structure in new and contemporary, scenic light. The selected metal halide lamps are an ideal choice both for optical and ecomonic reasons.
(a) Installation of the luminaire mounting plates-Miniature 20W metal halide lamps are used in the new lighting, installed in ERCO-designed luminaire modules. The lamps provide a service life and luminous efficacy many times that of the original lamps. Together with improved colour rendition and colour stability, they are the convincing choice in this application.
(b) Glass pyramid-Since 1989 the glass-steel construction designed by Ieoh Ming Pei has stood in marked contrast to the time-honoured Louvre in Paris and has fasinated tourists and locals by day and night. The lighting of the glass pyramid was modernised at the beginning of 2005
(c) Entrance foyer- The glass pyramid's load-bearing sturcture is illuminated by specially developed luminaire mounting plates at the foot of the structure each containing five luminaires with narrow beam characteristics
