Abstract
In February 1998 the Airport Authority (AA) awarded the HK$920 million contract for the terminal extension (which will extend the direct air gates from 38 to 48) and related aprons work to Zen Pacific Civil Contractors and Shui On Construction. Angela Tam talks to Jim Barry, deputy project manager of the joint venture. The northwest concourse extension will add 34,000 sqm of gross space to the passenger terminal, adding 10 gates to the 38 already in place. The extension will also require more than 2,900 seats, 2,800 sq m of granite flooring and 14,4000 sq, of carpet. More than 100,000 sq m of block paving will be laid in the new aprons.
