Abstract
In recent years, the northern New Territories has undergone rapid development, and seen a corresponding increase in poulation. To cope with this explosive growth, community facilities such as hospitals and clinics have had to be constructed post haste. In 1993, the Hospital Authority decided to relocate the aging Nethersole Hospital, then in Cairn Road, Western District, to Taipo. The result - the new, high-tech Nethersole Hospital - will be up and running next year.

近年來, 新界北區發展迅速,商住樓宇建設蓬勃,居住人口急劇上升。要應付這龐大的人口增長,一些輔助設施,如交通網絡,醫療設施等是不可或缺的。因此,醫管局於93年決定在大埔興建一座全新的高質素醫院 - 那打素醫院,以應所需。
