Abstract
Last year, a new index made its way onto the Hong Kong scene and into the nightly weather reports. The Air Pollution Index (API) - measured at roadside monitoring stations - provides hard evidence of just how much our air quality is deteriorating. Although the main cause of HK's air pollution is diesel vehicular exhaust, the construction industry contributes its share in the form of construction dust and other airborne pollutants. Learn your RSPs from your TSPs in this article, excerpted from the EPD's Environment Hong Kong 1998.
