Abstract
In Christchurch, New Zealand, burgeoning development of the inner city precinct and visitor attractions in recent years has resulted in increasing demand for conference facilities beyond the capacity of existing venues. Following an intense limited competition process in 1995, the practice Architecture Warren and Mahoney - a partnership which was established in 1958 - undertook the commission for Christchurch City Council. The brief: to provide a new international standard convention and exhibition centre which would cater, in part, for this growing demand.
