Abstract
Built to permanently house the Shumei Family Collection of art and antiquities from the ancient world and traditional Japanese art, the Miho Museum opened its doors to the public in November. Part of its mandate is a commitment ot the pursuit of beauty, both as expressed in its works of art and in nature. As such, for architect IM Pei, it was one of the most daunting sites he'd ever tackled.
