Abstract
City is both an organism and a mechanism of complexity. It deals with population, living space, working space, civic and natural space, traffic and circulation, utility service, economic production, health and education, administration, etc.. Cities have been functioning not only decades but also over centuries, in great extent, urbanism and architecture revealed the relationship between the city and the local geography, history, technology, social order and cultural condition in the form of streets and urban fabrics. China today is facing a crucial reality of rapid urbanisation. It is critical to study and to develop methods in city planning and urban design for a better understanding in urban form which is hopefully a logical representation of the locale.
