Abstract
The only one of its kind in Hong Kong, the Tuen Mun Reptile House is the essence of a playful, community-sized home of natural scientific interest. More importantly, it promotes the radical idea of a visit to the museum as a normal interlude in one's daily activities rather than some intermittent and grand event, simply because of its size and location. Reptiles are the most ancient of vertebrates whose earthly existence dates back 340 million years. This is partly why they hold such fascination, and it's that prehistoric element that is most evident in the delightfully kitsch museum design.
