Abstract
"I always felt that I had more than one birthplace and funnily enough I always felt that one birth-place was Hong Kong," spoke Zaha Hadid to a packed lecture hall at the Hong Kong University last month. Architects, designers and students jammed into aisles, stood up at the back and over-spilled into the corridor, eager to be dazzled by this charismatic Arab-Iraqi architect with a reputation for brilliance, controversy and a 'difficult' temperament.
Hinge visited her office in London (pictured left) to chat with her colleagues then caught up with Hadid herself during her whirlwind trip through Hong Kong. A trip to Vitra Fire Station completed the picture and enabled us to bring you this special report on Zaha Hadid 'A new civic space'.
