Abstract
As the Hong Kong community has grown and prospered, its demand for more and better medical treatment facilities has increased proportionally. Government response has been to build a series of large-scale public medical institutions, generally geared to serve regionally, with private-sector and subvented institutions adding to the general-care regimes and complementing this with specialised services such as geriatric care and long-stay recuperation and rehabilitation.
