Abstract
In the age of intelligent, computer-controlled buildings, the demand for human presence in building management has been greatly diminished. One area which cannot be fully handled by computer is security. Breaches of security can be unpredictable, and the type of response required is, perhaps, best left to humans. There are, however, a growing number of technological applications in the field of security which can minimise the degree of intervention and risk required of human beings. At the same time these applications confer greater levels of accuracy, and substantial time and cost-savings.
