Abstract
This month in Forum, BUILDING JOURNAL continues the series of presentations made by prominent architects at the ARCASIA Forum. In this article, Kiyonori Kikutake's gives his views on the contrast between the structure of urban environments in the East and West. Kiyonori Kikutake was the first architect to propose the "Marine City" concept in 1959 and subsequently the Metabolism Floating City and other "Floating City" projects for Japan and Hawaii. His other major professional work includes such projects as The Sky House, the International Conference Hall in Kyoto, and the Tower for Expo '70 in Osaka.
