Abstract
The idea of serving authentic Indian cuisine in surroundings that are not peeling flocked wallpaper and faux velvet drapery might take a while to catch on in Hong Kong. Take the UK, where the corner curry house is a great tradition, more commonplace than a chippy, and where Indian food is now officially regarded as the most popular Brit tukka. It's now relatively easy in London to stumble across the 'boutique' end of Indian dining, but in Hong Kong… Enter Veda, which is bravely embarking on a re-educative mission. Its design is also teaching us the fact that Indian cuisine deserves more than a spontaneous, late night gorge to soak up copious amounts of alcohol.
