Abstract
Born and raised in the historic city of Padua, north-eastern Italy, architect Andrea Viviani doesn't need to travel far to be inspired by his surroundings. Having graduated close by, from the University Architecture Insititute in Venice (IUAV) in 1989, he has since been the recipient of numerous competition awards and publication accolades. The most recent was as a finalist in UK magazine's annual "FX International Design Award" in 2000 for his Cinecity Multiplex in Treviso. He subsequently completed the Cinecity Udine last year and is currently working on two more. Full-time practice has not spelt the end of academia. Viviani was drawn back to IUAV in 1995 as professor of Architectural Design, helping to groom the architects of tomorrow but specifically exploring problems linked with the representation of architecture and with the use of CAD. His work spans an assortment of architectural commissions ranging from bar / club interiors and residential projects to corporate headquarters.
