Abstract
The South China Morning Post's (SCMP's) new Tai Po facility was financed largely by the sale of the company's Quarry Bay Building, and architects CTB Ltd were employed to fulfill the client's desire for a flaghship building. WIth its commanding outlook on the edge of Tolo Harbour, the Morning Post Centre is something of a landmark, not only in the way it dominates the waterfront of what the architects describe as 'not the most salubrious part of Hong Kong', but also in terms of the evolution of Hong Kong's industrial facilities.
The building's spacious, open-plan offices arranged around a central atrium, its abundance of natural light and its state-of-the-art technology represent a marked improvement on the territory's standard level of industrial facility, exemplified by the estate's other occupants.
