Fire safety of the railway systems

Abstract
Consequent to the arson fire in an underground train vehicle while traveling under the harbour, a paper “Preventive and Response Measures for Emergency Incidents” was discussed by the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Fire safety aspects in that paper will be discussed in this article. The total fire safety concept of implementing software fire safety management to control hardware provision, both passive construction design and active protection systems, is suggested to be considered.
